My fantasy daydream today was to go shopping ... for ME! Oh, and the endless bank account to spend.
As the weather cools down and I've shopped for Olivia & Madeleine's , I'm left with little ambition for me. The scheduling of shopping takes away from the spontaneity. I'm the first to admit I'm an impulse shopper. And for me to want to shop and have been able to disappear for 2 hours was heaven! But now I have to factor in a one hour commute (at least), Chay's schedule or get a babysitter and then I could go. See, kinda deflates my shopping bubble.
Oh well, just feeling sorry for myself today. Really wanted to shop, but no time, no Chay and no sitter. Guess this entry saved me $$$.

Catch Up
In case some of you might be wondering where I suddenly got new entries from, I'm guilty of starting an entry, getting side-tracked and saving, then going back days later to finish. I caught up on August and it's almost over!
I'll try to be better about writing in one complete sitting. :)

Contacts
My eyes have not gotten any worse over the last 10 years but for some reason, my contacts have been super bothersome. I am overdue for an eye exam and hope with new contacts this blurriness will go away. I had a brand I loved before we moved to Chicago and just wasn't able to find the private label brand. I switched to Oaysis and just have not gotten good results.
Maybe I'll just have to stick to glasses and consider Lasik.

50/50
Alright so continuing my frustration from the other night, I'm exhausted of being mad all the time. Are we not in a new millenium? "Excuse me, but why isn't everything 50/50?"
Really, why isn't it? Regardless of children, why is it that when most women get married we seem to transform into super-wives. Cooking, cleaning, work, scheduling... I know my husband knew how to do all of these things before I came along but slowly after we got married, he experienced amnesia. Or as "Everybody Loves Raymond" would say, he dumbed down to get out of doing things.
I know that I will always get frustrated first and bent-out-shape because the house is messy or the beds aren't made. I have to learn to let go when asking Chay to do something AND actually let him do it. By me nagging and going back and re-doing it, he's only going to NOT do anything. And it's really not positive re-enforcement. I'm thinking of Olivia. It's not very good parenting to ask her to put away her books only for her to see me go back and reorganize them. Or when she wants to help fold hand towels and then she sees me refolding them. How pathetic. LET IT GO ALREADY!
Anyways, so the worse of two evils is yelling at my husband for doing something wrong after I asked him to do something because I couldn't.
NOTE TO SELF --- definitely something to improve upon.

Worst of two evils
So what's worse? Being upset at Chay because he's not doing what I ask or frustrated when he's doing it wrong?
Really, from my perspective -- what is worse? Is it that hard to run the washing machine or know the girls' bedtimes? Really? OR is it that I just do these things on a daily basis without a thought and expect him to do the same?
Either way, I'm too exhausted to be sitting here typing about it.

Blue
Olivia has this obsession with the color blue. Only blue. She draws with blue crayons, blue markers and chooses only blue things. I am trying my darnest to break her of this obsession but nothing is working.
I asked her what's she going to do when she goes to preschool and some other little girl has the blue crayon?
"No, I always have blue."
So I try again, but she just doesn't get it. I'd like to try and break her of blue before she gets into situations where I'm won't be able to mediate. But, I think she's going to have to learn the hard way. I just don't know where this obsession came from?
So if I wasn't battling the blues, Madeleine has started biting her nails! THIS really puzzles me. I don't bite my nails so I don't know where she picked it up? A two year old biting nails? I just don't know what to do.

Sick but Sly
How does it come to be that kids become so sly, so young? Earlier I asked Olivia if the wanted a snack. "Sure!" (With a huge smile.) I told her we had fruit. Did she want cherries? Watermelon? Cantaloupe?
"Do you have Oreos?" So sweetly and innocently she asked.
"No, Olivia -- I said fruit. That's not a fruit." She giggled her way over to the pantry and settled on a banana.
As if she wasn't already so cute, when I asked if I could have a bite she happily said, "Sure, I share with you!"

Summer Cold
Madeleine had a runny nose yesterday. I had just hoped it was a small cold coming on. Nope, last night she was up coughing all night and completely uncomfortable. No sleep for her meant no sleep for me. This morning hasn't gone any better. She's thrown up 3 times already and is coughing like crazy. Super hoarse and just miserable. Poor thing. :( Runny nose, terrible cough and can't keep anything down.
I can only hope now that Olivia doesn't follow suit tomorrow. Olivia's usually 24 hrs behind Madeleine when it comes to passing germs. Ugh!

Updated Pic
Quick note about the updated pic of Olivia & Madeleine. Back in June while visiting my parents, my mom bought 2 adorable Hmong costumes for my girls over Memorial Day festivities and we finally had a chance to dress them. I'm lucky we had our camera that day. We also got a great pic of the girls with grandma & grandpapa.
